Crash at Madrid Airport: Report of Explosion Onboard
UPDATE: 8.22.08 With 153 people confirmed dead, there is still no word on why the plane crashed. CNN reports that initials claims of an engine fire before take-off are not accurate.

10-Years After The US Embassy Bombings in Africa
Yesterday marked the 10-year anniversary of the U.S. Embassy Bombings in East Africa. More than 250 people died, including 10 Americans. More than 6000 were injured; 300 subsequently died.

16 Chinese Policemen Killed in Muslim Xinjiang Region
According to the BBC, 16 Chinese policemen out for a jog have been attacked and killed by grenade-wielding terrorists disguised as garbage truck drivers.
An additional 16 policemen were injured. This just four days before opening ceremonies for the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
