Kafeel Ahmed, 27, the terrorist who doused his body in gasoline and set fire to himself after crashing a Jeep Cherokee packed with propane gas canisters into the Glasgow airport has died from his burn injuries. It was originally reported that Ahmed, who also went by the name Khalid Ahmed, was a medical doctor but it was later revealed that he had a doctorate in aeronautical engineering. On July 10, 2007, the New York Times reported that Ahmed worked for as an aeronautical engineer for a outsourcing company in India that "designs aircraft parts for Boeing, Airbus and other manufacturers."

With Ahmel in the Jeep was Bilal Abdullah, 27, an Iraqi medical doctor. Abdullah remains in police custody — charged with conspiracy to cause explosions. The dead man's brother, Dr. Sabeel Ahmed, 26, has also been charged under the Terrorism Act.
