Flying Imams Will Sue US Airways
By Annie Jacobsen in category Airport Security & Screening
It's official. Tomorrow, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) will hold a news conference in Washington, D.C. to announce that six Muslim clerics, removed from a US Airways flight last November, have filed a lawsuit against the airline.
The lawsuit stems from a November 2006 incident where passengers and flight crew noticed the men behaving in a suspicious manner. Flight crew notified local law enforcement who in turn notified federal agents at the airport. After examining written, eyewitness accounts and conversing with flight crew, federal agents asked the six imams to step off the plane for secondary screening. No charges were filed by US officials and the men were released a few hours later.
Fox news reports that five of the six imams had been trying to reach an out-of-court settlement with the airline.
