An airport in Pakistan is in chaos again — this time it’s the Islamabad International Airport. Earlier today, a suicide bomber opened fire near the VIP section of the airport injuring three. Unable to detonate his bomb, the man blew himself up with a grenade after a shootout with security forces.

“..the attacker arrived at the airport in a yellow cab, was challenged by airport security, got out of the car, opened fire with a pistol and threw a grenade. After an exchange of fire, the attacker dropped a second grenade that exploded, killing him. Interior Ministry Secretary Kamal Shah said the assailant had explosives strapped to his body that did not detonate.

Agence France-Presse provides more gory details. The US Department of State continues to advise Americans against traveling to Pakistan — need they say why? A little over a month ago, on December 26, 2006, Peshawar International Airport was the target of an attack when car bomb exploded in a parking lot just outside the main terminal there.
